So you scheduled a summer session, and are looking for the Best Family Photo Locations, but you’re not sure where to go?

I know the struggle! It can be tricky to pick the very best spot! Sure, there are tons of big open fields, pretty parks and all the popular places that New Jersey Family photographers flock to, but that doesn’t mean you have to! Think outside the box! Make it special, meaningful, or somewhere you know you will all love! We don’t have to be limited to parks, we can get out and DO THINGS! Think adventure, hikes, a day at the beach and more!

Personally,  I adore my family’s photos to be done in places where we go often, or on our RV adventures! We’ve done photos at the lake in Virginia, our backyard, our favorite hiking spot, and this summer in Bar Harbor Maine! SO EXCITED!!

Let’s get you excited about your custom family photo session this year! Make some real, true to you memories together this summer while taking your yearly family pictures in NJ!  Think of activities, locations, and adventures that your family would love! I am ALWAYS open to bounce ideas back and forth!

Here are just some ideas to get you thinking outside the box! 

THE SHORE

Favorite New Jersey shore spot? Let’s make an evening of it! Walk the beach, the boardwalk, and grab some ice cream! Splash around in the waves, search for seashells, endless fun and laughter guaranteed! I can make suggestions for locations that are perfect for pictures along the Jersey shore! LBI, Cape May, Avalon, Sea Bright, all cute!

THE LAKE 

Lakes will always be one of the Best Family Photo Locations! We can meet at one of the many parks for a classic summer session then go splash around at the waters edge! Or if your family has a lake home, we can use the property to make your family photos at the lake just that much more special and personal! Lake Mohawk, Lake Hopatcong, Greenwood Lake are all great! Even the smaller lakes and state parks would make for perfect summer family photo locations!

THE FAIR or CARNIVAL

Do you go to the fair or local carnival every year? Let’s meet up there! 

Cotton candy, balloons, bright lights, games, rides and more! What’s more fun than that?! You can go just as a couple for date night or make it a family afFAIR! *wink wink* We have the NJ State Fair right in our back yard in sussex county every summer. It makes for the perfect spot! There are also smaller carnivals and fairs thoughout the summer months that would absolutely work for this idea too!

YOUR BACKYARD

Have a pool? Sprinkler? Backyard oasis? Firepit? Let’s meet there and make some at home memories! Splash in the pool, run through the sprinkler, enjoy an ice pop, some watermelon, lawn games, roast some s’mores together! Really casual backyard fun with the fam!

HIKING / OUTDOORSY

Does you family love to adventure together? I’m always down for a great hike, nature trail, picnic spot in the wilderness! We have Great state Parks like High Point, Wawayanda, The Buttermilk Falls in PA, Lake Minnewaska in NY, all amazing spots to go on an adventure!

THE ZOO

The Turtle Back zoo is so close by, big enough to enjoy, but small enough to do a whole loop during a photo session! Grab some snacks, feed the giraffes, ride the carousel, and see all your favorite animals! Perfect for the little ones who love animals! All the fun makes the Turtle Back zoo one of the Best Family Photo Locations in New Jersey!

SUMMER GARDENS

Some of the Best Family Photo Locations in New Jersey are Gardens! Let’s meet at one of the many Arboretums and Botanical Gardens. They’re always gorgeous! There’s The NJ Botanical Gardens, Laurelwood Arboretum, Cross Estate Gardens, Brookdale Park, and so many more in the area! Let’s play among the blooms!

SUNFLOWERS

New Jersey Sunflower fields may be unmatched! We have so many great sunflower field spots!! The Sunflower Maze in Sandyston, to the smaller ones on little family farms like Green Valley Farm, and even one at Crystal Springs Resort! Note that these require just a bit of flexibility for mother nature’s bloom schedule, but we can usually find blooms late August through mid September.

THE PLAYGROUND

Why not?! We can have so much fun together just playing on the swings, the slides, climbing, running, jumping etc! If you’re less into formal and more into candid and moment based images this could be just right for you! Some of my favorite childhood memories with my Mom were made at the playground!

IN YOUR HOME

You spend most of your time there, let’s document it! A morning making pancakes, playing in the living room, snuggling on the couch, reading a story in bed, playing together in your little one’s room. These will mean so much more than you can even imagine! Super laid back sessions for those who would love a snapshot into real life.
