Melanie and Brian met up with me on the boardwalk just around the corner from Brian’s childhood home. They came up from Texas, where they met, to spend the holidays with his family. Melanie wanted some fun engagement photos before they get married in her home town in Guatemala this month!
It may have been the dead of winter just after Christmas, but it was so warm that day! It made for the perfect evening to stroll the boardwalk together with their pup!
If you’re dreaming of a winter engagement session in NJ here are a few tips to make sure you have the best time!
Plan for the weather – The weather can be un predictable in the winter. Be sure you have wardrobe for any kind of weather. Cold, wind, snow, or sunshine like we had!
Bring a coat – We usually spend some time walking to the location we will use for photos. Bring with your a warm coat to put on between locations and to warm up a bit! Hot hands are great to keep in your coat pockets too! If you have a photo worthy coat, that’s always a fantastic option!
Shorter time frame – Winter sessions are best kept shorter, or to have an indoor/ outdoor option . If we are outside too long noses and hands start to turn red. Not a great look for anyone. If we start inside then head outside I find we can warm up to one another inside and you’re comfortable with me in time for some quick rapid fire round outside photos!
Skip outside all together! We can do an entire engagement session in your home or somewhere fun like Drowned Lands Brewery in Warwick, a bowling alley, Penning Farm etc! Think outside the box for indoor options!
