When you schedule your baby’s first Professional baby photography in Sparta NJ , you may feel some uncertainty. You are unsure of what to expect or how to prepare for a newborn session with me at the Shoppes at Lafayette studio space. Don’t worry, I have collected some main pointers and helpful tips to help you be as prepared as possible for your Sparta NJ Newborn photos.

THE MORNING OF YOUR PROFESSIONAL BABY PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION

It can be helpful to keep baby awake for as much time as possible in the morning before you come into the studio. You can accomplish this by giving baby a bath. This will help baby to be sleepy when their session time comes.

When you are heading over to the studio, dress baby in easy to remove clothing. Button or zipper down PJs are best for easy removal without having to pull anything over their head.

WHAT TO BRING TO YOUR PROFESSIONAL BABY PHOTOGRAPHY SPARTA NJ

A pacifier – Even if you think your baby will not want to take one, a pacifier can help to soothe your little one. I will use it only if necessary, and as sparingly as possible. It can make the difference in the amount of images we are able to capture, and the length of your session.

Temperature – The Sparta NJ photo studio will be very warm. With temperatures set to 80* for baby’s comfort, consider this when choosing your own outfits.

Milk – Bring extra! Often babies will eat more than we think they will. I have a bottle warmer on hand for your use. It is recommended to bottle feed if possible during your session, it is usually quicker and easier to make sure baby has had enough. If you are exclusively nursing, no worries, I also nursed my children. You are welcome to nurse your baby in the studio space or in the dressing room. Take your time, I will always wait for a fully fed and content babe.

Diapers & wipes

Outfits for baby and parents – You are welcome to change into your photo wardrobe in the studio.

Entertainment and Snacks for older siblings – Sessions can last 2-2.5 hours. Be sure to bring little toys, tablet, or something to entertain and older sibling. i do have some on hand as well. A parent may want to step out with an older child once they have completed their portion.

There is The Lafayette House directly behind my studio space to grab a bite to eat or Village Sweets across the green for coffee and sweet treats. Ninja Warrior ( appointment needed) is also just across the walkway from me if your child would like to get some energy out while we finish up with mom and baby solos.

DURING YOUR SESSION

Coffee & Snacks – I have a single cup Keurig machine with a few options, as well as some light snacks for parents and toddlers.

Calming Environment – I play white noise and calm relaxing music during the session to keep baby calm and even older siblings. The sounds in the studio have an impact on the feelings of your baby, and yourselves. Feel free to relax!

Swaddle choice – I will always swaddle baby in a white or soft cream for their photos unless otherwise requested. If you prefer, a knit or onesie style outfit may be worn by baby as well. I do not use any props or extras to keep the focus on your sweet baby’s features.

Studio Wardrobe – Dresses for mom and toddlers are available for complimentary use during your session. You may come before your session for a try on if you would like! i always recommend soft neutral colors in the bright white studio!

Relax – Baby’s first pictures can take up to 2.5 hours. During that time we are taking breaks for feeding, changes, and chatting! You are free to make yourselves comfortable in the Sparta NJ newborn photo studio space.
