SAY HELLO!
I'm thrilled you're here! Whether you're getting married or starting a family, I am here to help you document your most treasured memories. When the party is over and the kids have grown, - the memories and photographs are all that's left.
Wardrobe is one of the most important, and first things to consider when planning a newborn session. I offer complimentary access to Style & Select with every session, as well as complimentary access to my studio wardrobe. You will also receive a guide to walk you through the do’s and don’t of picking wardrobe for your family’s studio session.
Swaddling wraps or simple onesies are best. Nothing too complicated, too busy with a pattern, or not the proper fit. Alot of parents will order outfits for their newborn not realizing just how tiny most of them are! The outfits wind up wearing them rather than them wearing the outfits. This is why I always prefer a proper fitting onesie ( preemie or newborn size) and will add a wrap or swaddle over that from my studio wardrobe or one that you would like to bring from home.
Lifestyle, family focused newborn sessions are very relaxed. Since baby will only be placed in natural baby-led poses, you don’t have to stress or push yourself to leave your home before you are ready. Anytime within the first two to 4 weeks will work for a newborn session. Though the earlier the better always rings tru if you’d like some sleepy or wrapped images. The older baby gets to more alert, and the less willing or able to be swaddled.
New Jersey Newborn sessions are always done late weekday mornings, when I find they have just had their second feeding and are ready for their second nap of the day. Some babies can take a little effort to get them settled, content, and finally asleep. It’s totally normal! I always allow for plenty of time in the newborn studio at the Shoppes at Lafayette to soothe, feed, and change baby as needed.
I am sure you have seen all the poses that newborn photographers can get baby into. While they are cute, and beautiful, some are also not natural, meaning your baby would never be in that position all on their own.
I prefer to use natural, baby led posing. Simple things like swaddled baby, being cradled by a parent. Or a simple white backdrop or bed with baby all curled up and cute in a moses basket or on their backs/tummy. I can get al the little details, and the natural and beautiful joy you all have of bringing your baby home. Timeless classic newborn photography that you will love 20, 50 years from now.
If you are hoping to have your newborn’s pictures done in the studio or in your home, I’d love to chat!
