NYC Skyline Engagement Session at Gantry Plaza

Kerianne and Chris had the most amazing NYC skyline engagement at Gantry Plaza! They will be getting married in October at Emmerich Tree Farm, in Warwick, NY! To celebrate, I met up with them at one of their absolute favorite spots in the city to visit and explore, Gantry Plaza State Park.

We lucked out with the warmest November day, just before Thanksgiving! It was in the 60s… that’s practically spring here in NY/NJ! I had never been to Gantry Plaza…. hello, Sussex County country girl here! But, I do love a great city adventure every now and then! Let me tell you, we had a BLAST with them and their little pup Baxter! He was the STAR of the show in his little best dog bandana and bow tie! I mean c’mon! Look at that little face!

We started out at Jackson’s in Long Island City for their awesome wall art as a backdrop, then strolled over a few blocks to Gantry Plaza Park, chatting and stopping for photos along the way. A quick trip back to the cars for a wardrobe change and then back over to the park for the most beautiful sunset over the NYC skyline! Keri was right, this spot does have the BEST views of the New York City Skyline!

HOW THEY MET

I asked Kerianne and Chris how their love story began, this is how she told the story! “We met in college! Chris and his roommate Mitchell were in the pep band, and so was I! Chris and I didn’t interact much at first, but I came to be good friends with Mitchell. One day in the school cafeteria, Mitchell came over to my table to eat with Chris and they struck up casual conversation. Turned out Chris and I were the same major, but hadn’t run into each other yet. However, Sophomore year, we started hanging out more due to Pep Band, which led to studying together, partying together, eating together, and becoming very close friends! We both had significant others at the time, but over the years and after a few breakups we realized we had a very strong connection. I’d say the first move was most likely mutual. We couldn’t hide our feelings any longer! We finally started dating at the very end of our senior year!”

HOW HE ASKED

After 5+ years of dating, Chris had begun to plan an elaborate night in the city with all of their friends where he would propose on a beautiful rooftop overlooking Kerianne’s favorite building, the Chrysler Building! But then, covid hit. So, all plans were scratched. After waiting a bit longer, he finally decided “enough was enough”, took her out on Long Island for wine, and then to a gorgeous state park where he popped the question at sunset!!! “We were the only ones in sight and it was so beautiful and lovely, even if it wasn’t a surprise :)”

THEIR PERFECT DATE NIGHT

Keri and Chris love to travel, so their favorite date nights were in Hawaii or Ireland, where they spent a ton of time eating and drinking to their hearts content! Enjoying good food, a great view and each other’s company are their favorite dates!

THEIR FAVORITE WEEKEND ACTIVITIES

“We love to spend time with our dog and cat, watching corny 90’s romcoms and horror movies with a bag of chips and maybe some wings. We love taking long walks with a cup of coffee, and Baxter, to get some fresh air and explore where we live!”

ENGAGEMENT SESSION VIBES

Kerianne and Chris were looking for fun, silly, and beautiful engagement photos in a place that they love to visit! keri chose Gantry Plaza state park, because she works near by, and loves to walk through the park on her lunch breaks, grab food from the food trucks, and enjoy the view of her favorite building, the Chrysler Building, in the NYC skyline!
