There is something sacred about the first hours after your baby is born.

The room is quiet in a way it will never be again.
Your baby still fits perfectly on your chest.
The pink-and-blue striped hospital blanket is wrapped just so.
Tiny fingers curl and uncurl.

This Fresh 48 newborn session at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, NJ was especially meaningful because it was gifted to new mom and dad M & P as they welcomed their baby boy, “F,” into the world. And like most Fresh 48 sessions, it was scheduled very last minute — because babies don’t follow calendars.

If you’re expecting and searching for a Fresh 48 newborn session in the hospital in Morristown NJ, here’s exactly how it works — and why these sessions are truly priceless.

What Is a Fresh 48 Newborn Photographer?

A Fresh 48 newborn session takes place inside your hospital room within the first 48–72 hours after delivery. At Morristown Medical Center, I typically photograph these sessions in the morning around 10:00 AM, after discharge morning is recommended, and I work completely around nurses, pediatricians, and hospital staff.

This is not a posed newborn session.
This is documentary, natural, emotional storytelling.

It’s about:

  • The way you look at your baby
  • First sibling introductions (yes — siblings are welcome and included based on current hospital policy)
  • Hospital bracelets
  • The bassinet beside your bed
  • The classic striped hospital blanket
  • The very first family portrait

When I Come to Photograph Your Fresh 48

For a Fresh 48 newborn session at Morristown Medical Center, I arrive:

  • Within 48–72 hours after delivery
  • Most often on discharge morning
  • Around 10:00 AM
  • Flexible based on how mom and baby are doing

Sessions are quick and gentle, anywhere from 40 minutes to 1.5 hours, depending on:

  • How you’re feeling
  • How baby is doing
  • How much you’d like documented

If baby needs to eat, we pause.
If you need a moment, we pause.
If you’d like privacy during nursing or diaper changes, I quietly step out.

Or, if you’d like those moments documented, I photograph them respectfully and beautifully. You are in control.

Comfortable & Considerate for New Moms (Especially C-Sections)

One of the biggest hesitations I hear from new moms is:

“I don’t feel put together enough to have a photographer come.”

I completely understand.

You do not need to leave your hospital bed.
You do not need full hair and makeup.
You do not need a spotless room.

Especially for C-section mamas, this session is designed so you can remain comfortable. I guide gently, adjust angles, and create flattering, natural images without asking you to move in ways that don’t feel good.

Most new moms don’t feel comfortable inviting a photographer into their birth space.

But I promise you these photos are so worth it. They are not intimidating. They are calm, quiet, and deeply meaningful.

Fourteen years into my photography career, I can tell you: no one ever regrets having these photos.

Classic Hospital Fresh 48 Newborn Photography

One of my favorite parts of being a Fresh 48 Newborn Photographer in Morristown NJ is documenting the timeless hospital details:

  • The traditional pink and blue striped blanket
  • The tiny hospital hat
  • Baby in their clear bassinet
  • First yawns and stretches

Your baby can absolutely stay in their hospital outfit. That classic new baby look is part of the story.

If you’d like to bring an additional outfit, we can include that too, but it’s completely optional.

Safety First — Always

Your newborn’s safety is my highest priority.

  • I am experienced in handling brand new babies.
  • I move slowly and intentionally.
  • I never force poses.
  • I sanitize hands and equipment.
  • I follow all hospital guidelines.

I have photographed many Fresh 48 newborn sessions at Morristown Medical Center over the past 14 years and know the rooms, lighting, and flow of the maternity floor well.

You are in calm, experienced hands.

Siblings & Family Are Welcome

Based on current hospital policy, siblings are welcome and included in Fresh 48 sessions at Morristown Medical Center.

Those first sibling meetings?
They are magic.

We capture:

  • Curious peeks into the bassinet
  • Proud big sibling smiles
  • Whole family portraits
  • Grandparent visits (when permitted)

These are the moments that become framed heirlooms.

What If Plans Change?

Because babies arrive on their own timeline, most Fresh 48 sessions are scheduled very last minute — just like M & P’s.

Once baby arrives, you (or your partner) text me:

  • Baby’s arrival time
  • How everyone is feeling
  • Discharge plans

We finalize the session from there.

If for any reason I’m unable to make it to the hospital, we can pivot to a beautiful in-home newborn session instead. You will never lose the opportunity to document this season.

A Gifted Fresh 48 Newborn Photographer photo Session for M, P & Baby “F”

This session was especially meaningful because it was gifted to M & P as they welcomed baby “F.”

Gifted Fresh 48 sessions are such a thoughtful way to support new parents. Instead of more blankets or outfits, you’re giving them something they can’t recreate later:

The way he looked on day two.
The way they looked at him.
The beginning of everything.
